MILITARY charities will benefit from a school’s charity concert.

The event organised by Blandford’s Knighton House School takes place at The Tank Museum, Bovington, on Friday, June 6 and will be supporting Combat Stress and Help for Heroes.

The setting is poignant as the concert takes place on the anniversary of the D-Day landings and funds raised on the evening will be split between the two military charities with close links to the school.

Guest performers appearing alongside the school’s famous Chapel Choir include English National Opera tenor John Hudson, Dorset Opera soprano Charlotte Hewett and soprano Annemarie Lees.

Staged amid the tanks to create a dramatic backdrop, the programme contains a variety of sacred and opera as well as a nod to the nostalgia of the 1940s.

Director of music at Knighton House, Philippa Hardy, said: “The girls are thrilled about performing alongside such eminent artists.

“The choir has been hard at work rehearsing and we are determined to make it an evening to remember for everyone.”

The concert is at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £20 each and include admission to the museum after 6pm and interval drinks and canapés. Children’s tickets £10.
