A CHILD who suffered an allergic reaction in Lyme Regis sparked a visit from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

It is believed family or friends of the boy, believed to be seven or eight years old, were at the Anning Road playing fields and called for emergency assistance at approximately 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.

A South Western Ambulance spokesman confirmed that the young boy was then taken by road ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

Tracy Bartram, Air Ambulance communications manager, said the air ambulance was called to an area close to the Royal Lion Hotel in Lyme Regis and landed at 4.04pm.

She added: “We received a report of a young boy who had suffered anaphylactic shock.

“On arrival at the scene air ambulance staff assessed the boy, who was then taken to hospital by road ambulance.”

Lyme Regis resident Becca Overton was in the area at the time of the incident. She said: "I was walking past around that time and saw the ambulance land at the playing field.

"Thank goodness it wasn't a much more serious incident and the boy was taken to hospital so quickly."
