A VAN had to be recovered after a collision on a narrow lane near Cerne Abbas.

The collision with a car occurred at around 10am yesterday just to the east of the village.

Holidaymaker Cherry Moss, who was staying in Cerne Abbas on a trip from Kent, witnessed the collision as she was travelling on a bus in the opposite direction.

She said: “It was quite a dramatic incident.

“The car was a write-off and the whole of the van’s front suspension collapsed.

“There was a lorry filled with gravel and our bus coming the other way and we couldn’t get past.”

Mrs Moss said they had to wait while the van was recovered but nobody involved in the collision required hospital treatment.

She said their journey was only delayed by around 20 minutes.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they did not have a record of the incident.
