COASTGUARDS were called after a yacht got stuck in fishing gear off the Dorset coast.
The incident happened at around 9.30am yesterday near Swanage.
The 42-foot sailing vessel ‘Bonaventure’, which had two people on board, came into difficulty to the south of Swanage.
A lifeboat crew was launched to cut them free and towed the yacht to safety.
Elsewhere, numerous 999 calls from members of the public alerted coastguards to a report of a single red parachute flare.
The calls were made at around 6.30pm.
The Poole RNLI Inshore lifeboat was launched to search Poole Harbour and the Sandbanks area.
Nothing was found and it is thought that the flare was fired from an inland location.
