DORSET County Hospital has been named as one of the top hospitals in the country.

The Dorchester hospital has been announced as one of CHKS 40 Top Hospitals for 2014.

The accolade is awarded to the top performing CHKS client trusts and is the result of evaluation of 22 key performance indicators covering safety, clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

More than 200 guests attended the CHKS Top Hospitals programme awards in London, where Dorset County Hospital picked up its award.

Managing director at CHKS Jason Harries said: “This year we celebrate our 25th anniversary so it is a fitting occasion to reward excellence in the NHS.

“These awards recognise outstanding performance in those areas which we believe are critical to delivering good patient care.

“We are delighted that Dorset County Hospital is one of our 40 Top Hospitals in this special year for our awards.”
