THE DEDICATED service of a member of the Dorchester and District Lions Club has been recognised with a trophy named in his honour.
Fred Bloomfield has given more than 40 years of service to the club and has twice served as president.
He also reached the position of regional chairman and his commitment to the charitable organisation, coupled with his passion for football, was recognised with the new Fred Bloomfield Trophy.
The trophy will be presented to the best young achiever at Dorchester Town Football Club’s youth system every year.
With help from Dorchester Town director Matthew Lucas, the Lions nominated Billy Evans from D.T. Tigers as the first recipient of the Fred Bloomfield Trophy.
Community service co-ordinator for the Lions Rob Smith said: “Billy illustrated total dedication and commitment, as well as a positive attitude towards his team-mates and mentors.”
