DORSET Echo chief reporter Samantha Harman has scooped a top award.

Samantha was awarded the Dorset Journalist of the Year Award by the NUJ, the National Union of Journalists, at Bournemouth University on Wednesday evening.

The judges praised Miss Harman’s investigative work and said they were examples of ‘never taking no for an answer’.

Samantha said: “I am very proud to work at the Echo and I would like to thank the team for its support and encouragement.

“The Dorset Echo is a great example of local journalism and why it matters, bringing important stories to the attention of our readers.”

Group Editor Toby Granville said: “Samantha has proven to be an exceptional journalist in the short time she has been with us and has a great career ahead of her.

“I’m delighted that her talent has been recognised and this award is extremely well deserved.”
