ORGANISERS of a beer festival that raised over £4,000 for a new facility for children at Dorset County Hospital has handed over the proceeds from the event.

The Dorchester Beerex event raised funds for Gully’s Place.

The Gully’s Place suite at Poole Hospital looks after terminally ill children and their families and it is hoped that a suite will be opened at Dorset County Hospital in the near future.

Fundraising manager at Poole Hospital Charity Pamela Bell said: “We are delighted to have received such a splendid donation. This was one of the first events that has been held in Dorchester for Gully’s Place and we are extremely appreciative of their support.

“Our main aim in the next couple of years is to support the development of a Gully’s Place suite at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester, similar to the one we have at Poole.

“This wonderful donation will help us to achieve this.”

Beerex chairman Ellis Ford said: “It was an honour to be involved in the early stages of such a wonderful facility.”
