DID anyone else see this twister over Weymouth?
This picture, taken by Echo reader Bob Pinnow yesterday, shows a thin funnel of cloud dropping down from a dark cloud above with a loop in it.
It was taken from Dorchester looking back across Came Down towards Weymouth
Mr Pinnow, who works as the caretaker at Kingston Maurward House, is wondering if anyone else saw this phenomenon.
He said: “I was closing up the shop about 4.30pm-4.45pm and I just looked up across the lake and I just spotted it in the sky.
“When I first saw it, it was like a long straight line downwards. By the time I got my phone out to take a picture, it had the twist in it.”
He showed the picture to someone who thought it might be a plane doing a loop-the-loop, but Mr Pinnow said he didn’t see any aircraft.
He said: “To me it looked like a funnel when I first saw it.”
Weymouth weatherman Bob Poots said that the area did get a few small tornadoes every year, mainly over the sea, but he said: “It could be a funnel cloud rather than a twister.”
