A SERIES of events are being held in Dorset to mark National Volunteers Week.
Volunteer Centre Dorset is running recruitment fairs at Bridport Town Hall on Monday, June 2 from 9.30am to 12.30pm. at Dorchester’s Corn Exchange from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Thursday, June 5 and a the Not Just Sundaes cafe in Wareham from 10am to 1pm also on Thursday, June 5.
The events will see a range of organisations that are looking for volunteers on hand to answer questions and register new volunteers. During the week a number of organisations in the area will also be thanking the volunteers that contribute to them during National Volunteers Week.
Volunteer Centre Dorset deputy manager Craig Womble said: “Over the last few years the commitment and contribution of volunteers are making has come to the fore, receiving national recognition.”
A team from the volunteer centre will be manning a stand in Dorchester’s South Street from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday, June 3.
The volunteer centre also has two special days to thank its volunteers – a visit to Sculpture by the Lakes near Tincleton and a gig rowing session provided by Portland Gig Rowing club. Visit volunteeringdorset.org.uk or call 01305 269214.
