COASTGUARDS were called to assist South West Ambulance Control just after 2pm yesterday afternoon when a 58 year-old woman fell on rocks at Mupe Bay, an isolated location east of Lulworth Cove.
Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Officers and paramedics carried the woman, who sustained an open-wound broken leg, from a difficult location with no road access into the Air Ambulance.
The Air Ambulance then airlifted her directly to Dorset County Hospital A&E for immediate treatment.
At around 5pm the same day coastguards were also called to a small boat, which had five people on board, after its engines failed just off the shore of Fresh Water Beach Holiday Park near Burton Bradstock.
A concerned member of the public made the call and local vessel Plan B towed the boat to shore where they were met by West Bay Coast Rescue officers.
Weymouth RNLI launched a lifeboat at 5pm yesterday to assist a 38ft Swift Trawler that had engine failure near Lulworth, and the lifeboat towed the vessel into Weymouth Harbour.
In other news, the skipper of 32ft bayliner motor boat Rhoans, with 2 people on board, radioed coastguards at 5:25pm yesterday to report the boat had suffered engine failure off Peveril Point in Swanage.
The 21ft angling boat Looby Too responded to a broadcast via radio and towed the motor boat to a safe mooring in Swanage Bay near the lifeboat station.
Earlier that morning at around 8:50am West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team was called to rescue a dog which went over the cliff near Eype Mouth in West Dorset.
The team successfully rescued the Jack Russell dog, which was uninjured.
