• The Sutton Poyntz Art Group laid on another marvellous display of their work in the Mission Hall when over 200 people dropped in to see what this talented 15 plus strong group had to offer. I must say that the standard, always high, has achieved new heights, with careful presentation adding to the quality of the exhibition. Members of the group were on hand to talk about their work over a cup of tea and some delicious homemade cake, which added to the enjoyment of a visit.

• Betty Hennessey tells me that the Weymouth East Scout and Guide Troop Beach stall will be held on Wednesday 25th June and she would be grateful for good quality items to sell, and for help on the day. Betty has been organising the Beach Stalls and Spring/Autumn jumble sales for many years, and she and Jill Small are owed a huge vote of thanks. However, and I know they will forgive me for saying this, they are not getting any younger and someone is needed to step up and take over. Betty and Jill are of course willing to assist with advice, but if no-one comes forward there is the risk that the local scouts and guides will lose the home they have enjoyed for so many years. It is already known that in the not too distant future the Scutt Hall roof will need repairs amounting to £6000. Is there anyone, or more than one person to lighten the load, prepared to help? A scout/guide parent, community minded local, anyone? If you could assist, contact Betty on 833614.

• The AGM of the Mission Hall Trust will be on Wednesday 9 July at 7.30pm. This is your chance to see what the Trust has been doing over the last year, and to ask any questions you might have. For instance, why was there a hole in the ceiling a while ago? Those of you who sometimes cast their eyes to the heavens will know what I am talking about! Demonstrate your support for this important local meeting place by attending the AGM.
