FOOTBALL fever is set to descend on Dorchester as England get their World Cup campaign underway this weekend.

The Dorchester Round Table has organised a screening of the match against Italy on Saturday at the Spice Centre in High West Street that will also see funds raised for local good causes.

With the event starting at 10pm and kick off at 11pm, there will be a host of drink and food offers for punters to enjoy while the venue will boast the largest screen in Dorchester.

Tables will be moved aside to create a real football atmosphere with the event open to over 18s only.

There will be a raffle at half-time with a host of prizes including a football shirt signed by legendary former England player and manager Kevin Keegan, who visited the county town last week.

Entry to the Spice Centre is free and the Round Table are urging people to come together and enjoy cheering on Gerrard, Rooney, Sturridge and co in a communal atmosphere while also raising funds for good causes.

Round Table proceeds from the night will go to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Dorset County Hospital, the Dorset Wildlife Trust and other local causes.

Nick Grassby from the Dorchester Round Table said: “It’s a free event with the biggest screen in Dorchester.

“There will be drinks promotions and food promotions and a half-time auction with a signed Kevin Keegan shirt and a number of other donated items.”

Nick urged people to turn out in force and show their support for the Three Lions.

He said: “We just need as many people as possible to come along.

“Although it’s a restaurant it’s going to be a proper football atmosphere where most people will be standing.

“We are going to try and get the best atmosphere possible.”
