Are you a parent in Westham who has a child that cannot swim but wishes they could? Or are you a youth from Westham who wants to learn to swim in a friendly environment? Well there is good news.

There is a programme which has been funded by ‘Working with You’ funding pot.

The project comprises the provision of two intensive swimming programmes – each will comprise a daily half-hour lesson, each day for one week (Monday to Friday during the school holidays). One programme will run at Weymouth Swimming Pool and the other as Osprey Leisure Centre.

Each programme can accommodate approximately 8 participants (16 in total) and is aimed at teaching basic swimming skills to young people (between the ages of 11 and 16) who are unable to swim.

In order to address barriers to participation it is proposed to provide each participant with a free swimming costume, goggles and swim cap (and perhaps towel if needed) to be procured by SLM at a heavily discounted price by Zoggs as an ‘in kind’ contribution to the project.
