WORK has started on a multi-million pound school in Dorset.
Dorset County Council is replacing Pimperne Primary School with a spacious new building with modern facilities in the village near Blandford to accommodate two additional year groups.
A ceremony marked the start of main construction works with Len Vincent, who attended the school in the 1930s joining current pupils to ‘cut the turf’ on the new school site next to the village hall.
Built by main contractor ISG, the £3.9m building will provide single-storey accommodation for pupils aged 5 to 11 and will include classrooms, a multi-use hall and outdoor hard and soft play areas.
The school is due to be completed next spring.
