POLICE in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following the theft of a scooter in the town.

The incident happened between 10pm on June 9 and 7am on June 10 2014 on Reedling Close.

A silver and grey Piaggio X8125 scooter with the registration number HF06 HMV was stolen, along with a blue and grey coloured cover, from outside an address where it was parked overnight.

Police Constable Neil Fitch from Weymouth police said: “This thoughtless crime has caused a lot of inconvenience to the victim who now has no means of transport to get to work. Sadly for the victim, the scooter was found completely destroyed by fire in a field nearby.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this theft, or knows the people involved, to get in contact. It is possible someone may have seen the scooter being set alight or suspicious activity in the area.”

No arrests have been made.
