FROM high-flying motorbike stunts to a mob of meerkats – organisers are promising this year’s Dorset County Show will have something for everyone.

Plans for the event near Dorchester on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 are gathering pace with freestyle display team the Bolddog Lings set to top the bill fresh from reaching the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

The team of daredevil motocross riders with the largest, most hi-tech landing ramp in the world will be performing their gravity-defying stunt displays in the main ring over the weekend.

It has also been announced that the Dorset County Show will host the 2014 National Vegetable Society Championships – the most prestigious event in the UK growers’ calendar with over 1,000 entries anticipating across a range of classes.

There is also plenty to excite animal lovers at the show.

A spokesman for the event said: “A mob of six meerkats, officially Britain’s favourite animal, will make their debut at this year’s show, adding to the menagerie of some 2,000 animals expected to attend and Black Rock Llamas will take centre stage in the Symonds & Sampson Countryside Ring for the first time ever, wowing the crowds with their agility skills and partaking in the UK’s only Llama Puissance competition.”

There will also be a chance to enjoy a bit of retail therapy over the show weekend, with a range of interiors, fashion and craft ideas on offer.

Food lovers will be able to indulge their tastebuds, too, with an amazing 90 different food options on offer.

The ever-popular Dorset Food Hall has been expanded this year to accommodate 40 producers offering a range of local delicacies as well as live cooking demonstrations.

The 2014 Dorset County Show at the showground just outside Dorchester is on all day on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7.

Early bird tickets are now available from £10 per adult with all under 16s going free.
