GREYHOUNDS and lurchers from all over Dorset will be coming together to enjoy their walkies at the Evershot Country Fair this weekend.

The fifth annual Great British Greyhound Walk is being held at the event on Sunday.

Hundreds of similar walks will be taking place at the same time around the country and Greyhound Rescue West of England is keen to use the event to show people in Dorset what good pets greyhounds and lurchers are.

The event also ties in with the charity’s recently launched New Life Appeal, which aims to find forever homes for older dogs.

Liz Baker, Dorset event organiser for Greyhound Rescue West of England, said: “We believe that every dog deserves the chance of a new life and our New Life Appeal aims to help re-home and care for as many of these dogs in need as possible.

“We encourage dog owners to join us on the walk to show the public how great greyhounds are as family pets.”

The walk starts at 10.30am from the field car park.
