THE magic of Gilbert and Sullivan will be heard at a glittering Gala Concert at Lighthouse, Poole on Saturday.
Bournemouth Gilbert & Sullivan Operatic Society is hosting the evening which blends professional singers and orchestra with, for the first time in Poole, a chorus from the best local and regional G&S groups.
Rebecca Bottone, Louise Crane, Ros Griffiths, Ian Belsey and John Broad will be joining Simon Butteriss to present favourite ballads, songs and snatches from Gondoliers, HMS Pinafore, Pirates of Penzance, Iolanthe , Patience and Sorcerer.
The Mikado will also be performed with the much-loved I’ve Got a Little List and Tit Willow taking centre stage when Simon plays KoKo.
A chorus of around 100 drawn from Bournemouth G&S Society and other experienced Savoyards will complement the illustrious principal cast and the full professional orchestra will be conducted by well-known musical director Jean Holt.
The concert will also support a cause close to the hearts of many people, Macmillan Caring Locally.
Over many years Bournemouth G&S Society has raised funds for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch and looks forward to donating to Macmillan Caring Locally, which takes care of local cancer sufferers.
Curtains up for The Best of Gilbert & Sullivan Gala Concert is 7.30pm and seats are £20 and £15 (concessions available). For tickets contact Lighthouse, Poole, on 0844 406 8666 or lighthousepoole.co.uk
