THE year-old West Bay Community Forum marshalled members to clear up the harbour’s beaches.

Around 20 members teamed up for the first time with Matilda Bark of the Dorset Coast Forum’s Litter Free Coast and Sea community campaign for a beach-cleaning day at the weekend.

Chairman Ann Guppy said: “We are pleased with the turnout on such a busy weekend with so many other events running.

“We are now looking for resident volunteers who are prepared to monitor the East and West Beaches and co-ordinate with Dorset Coast Forum when beach cleans are necessary.

“Any people interested in this should attend the next open meeting at the Salt House, West Bay on July 3 at 7:30pm.”

Mrs Guppy said she was looking to turning the forum into a charity and said she wants everybody to get involved.

She said that the forum was formed in response to the traffic problems and the notorious ‘pinchpoint’ but there was more to the group than that issue.
