ST JOHN Ambulance volunteers are ready to hit the streets of Dorchester to raise funds for its lifesaving work.

A team from the first aid charity will be carrying out its annual street collection in South Street and Weymouth Avenue next Wednesday.

They will be outside the county town’s market from 10am to 2pm.

Unit manager for Dorchester Jamie Hockley, who is co-ordinating the fundraising efforts, said: “Our charity’s aim is that everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them and no one should suffer for a lack of trained first aiders.

“By raising these much needed funds, our volunteers will be able to continue giving thousands of hours of service to the community in Dorset and further afield, each year, including providing medical cover at events and training members of the public in lifesaving skills.”
