AN INDUSTRIAL design graduate from Dorchester has been recognised for his project to get youngsters to drink more water.
Former Thomas Hardye School pupil George Hanson, pictured right, was selected for a prestigious exhibition on London’s South Bank to show his project, a bottle and computer game to encourage children to drink more.
The Brunel university student said: “Research shows half of all four to six-year-olds don’t drink enough during the day.
“My project uses a device inside the re-useable bottle which measures consumption and awards points.
“The points then can be used in a computer game to get vegetation to grow on an online island. Once there are enough plants, animals appear.
“But the animals only stay if the child keeps generating enough points.”
To stop children from over-drinking a set maximum number of points can be earned daily.
