THOUSANDS of visitors are expected to enjoy a weekend of Second World War themed events in Weymouth and Portland this weekend.
As well as the annual Armed Forces Day and Veterans Day parade, the borough is set to host Weymouth at War to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
The will be a military fair on all day at Weymouth Pavilion, a historic military vehicle display and convoy, and various World War Two themed events taking place all day at Portland Castle and the Osprey Leisure Centre as well as re-enactment displays at the Nothe Fort Gardens and music in Hope Square.
At 4.30pm the day will be rounded off with a Spitfire flypast.
Tomorrow there will be an open air church service ahead of the veterans parade and convoy, which starts at 11am.
