A BUYER has been lined up for Weymouth’s historic guildhall.
The Grade II-listed building, which used to host full council meetings for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, was put on the market with estate agent site Fleurets last month. It was put up as a possible site for a freehold tenure pub.
The Guildhall is currently under offer but Weymouth and Portland Borough Council said they could not say more about what the future venue might be.
A spokesman said: “The Guildhall is under offer and it’s in the hands of our solicitors at the moment. We can’t say more until commercial negotiations are completed.”
He added they could not say what type of business could be going into the site.
Last year the borough council agreed to dispose of the building as part of money saving measures.
