TIME is running out to play your part in a historic stage of the development of the Dorset County Museum.

Youngsters are being challenged to come up with a logo for the Dorchester museum’s Development Appeal in a competition to be judged by Lady Fellowes of West Stafford, pictured.

The closing date for entries is next Friday, July 4.

The Dorset County Museum is bidding to raise funds for its £6million Discovery Collections Centre to house its three million artefacts and offer better access to the public.

It is looking for an eye-catching design to use for a range of items from clothing, postcards and tea towels to chocolates and stationery.

Fundraising team leader for the museum David Taylor said: “It needs to be simple, memorable and appropriate for the purpose – it must also work at a small size, say one inch across.”

Mr Taylor said that fundraising had been going well, with the museum staircase appeal raising more than £26,000 and architects had now been appointed for the new centre.

Entry forms for the logo competition are available from the museum.

Lady Fellowes will judge the winning entries on July 22.
