SOLDIERS from Dorset will celebrate becoming the UK’s new Armour Reinforcement Regiment with a parade in front of Prince Edward.

As part of the Army’s new 2020 design, Dorset’s Royal Wessex Yeomanry, based in Bovington, right, together with squadrons in Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon and Gloucestershire, will take on the new role.

They will provide fully trained Challenger Two main battle tank crews, in support of the new British Army reaction force. As part of their new role the Royal Wessex Yeomanry will be required to restructure and re-role with the operational command moving from Tidworth to Bulford.

There will also be a new unifying cap badge for the regiment. The occasion will be marked by a parade in front of HRH Prince Edward, the regimental honorary royal colonel, next Saturday in Bovington.
