TEAMS enjoyed some crazy fun in the sun as disability charity Diverse Abilities Plus held its second It’s a Knockout challenge in Weymouth.

A total of 17 teams took part in the event, which was supported by Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, and replicated the hit wacky television show of the 1960s and 1980s.

The teams of up to 12 took on a range of challenges, starting with a warm up that led to three team captains undertaking a dance off to win points.

After that there were six games – Penguin Pursuit, Slippery Summit, Medieval Madness, Hats On, Wacky Waiters and Crazy Climbers – that all proved as mad as they sounded.

Points were awarded throughout the events and in the end the Wild Boys team claimed top spot, followed by Smells Like Team Spirit in second and Blood, Sweat then Beers in third.

Diverse Abilities Plus events fundraiser Sharon Wells said: “We were really pleased with the turnout at the event – 17 teams taking part was just fantastic.

“We have already had a number of the teams interested in next year’s event so if you think you can take on the crazy challenges, get in touch.

“Everyone that took part had a great time and as well as having fun were actively supporting the work of Diverse Abilities.”

Paula Street, a parent of a child that attends Langside School – one of the Diverse Abilities services – took part in the event.

She said: “We had a fantastic day at It’s a Knockout in aid of Diverse Abilities – a great charity that supports my daughter.

“Our Team – the DAP Dozen – included a number of parents with children supported by the charity and we wanted to get involved and help raise funds, while having a great time together.

“We hope lots of people see what fun it was and sign up for next year’s event.”

The charity has a number of other fundraising events coming up including a Chinese Dragon Boat Race in Poole Park on July 20, a Kamikaze Run, a skydive, race night, tandem paragliding and Castaway Survival Challenge.
