CREW members on board a yacht were found to be safe and well following a cross-national communications search.

The search took place on Sunday after the daughter of the crew on board the 10-metre yacht said she had not heard from her parents in two weeks.

The search was conducted around the south and west coasts of the UK, the Channel Islands and Northern France.

The yacht, named Valeri, was eventually traced to a French port yesterday afternoon with everyone on board confirmed to be safe and well.

Elsewhere, a yacht faced difficulties making its way against the tide after suffering engine failure.

The yacht Little Blue had trouble off the Needles, near the Isle of Wight, at around 11.49am.

Swanage Lifeboat monitored the vessel which slowly made its way to Poole Harbour. MVS Avocet then towed the yacht to Poole Quay.

Meanwhile, St Alban's Coastguard and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 104 investigated reports of a person screaming on a cliff.

The incident happened at around 9.13pm on the cliff above Chapman’s Pool and was reported by a walker.

After searching the area nothing untoward was found and units were stood down.
