THE spotlight will be on the history of Chideock in a special exhibition taking place this weekend.

The Chideock Society is marking their 25th anniversary with the event at the village hall.

Audio recordings of Chideock residents who grew up in the village talking about life in the village many years ago will be available and there are also films and photos of village events, including the VE and VJ Day Commemoration, the re-enactment of the Monmouth Rebellion run by the George Inn, and other celebrations and projects members have taken part in over the years. The exhibition can be viewed from 11am to 4pm on Saturday, July 5, and from 11am to 2.30pm on Sunday, July 6.

Sal Robinson, Chideock Society Treasurer, said: “By popular demand we shall be showing again the film taken in 1940 by the Rev Walker, with an illuminating commentary by Professor Denys Brunsden, which made for such an enjoyable evening in April.”

The film begins at 3pm on Sunday.
