A LARGE amount of smoke drifted over Weymouth this morning after four hay bales were set alight.

Two fire crews from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service tackled the fire in a field opposite to the entrance of South Buckland Farm.

The service received four calls about the fire and were at the scene around 7.23am.

The fire caused smoke to drift over Southill and Nottington.

The hay bales were pulled apart with hay drags and allowed to burn. They were extinguished with hose jet reels.
