WORK from talented young artists and photographers from the Thomas Hardye School is currently on display for the public to enjoy.

The fruits of the labours of Year 13 Art and Photography A-level students is being exhibited in the annual Hardye’s Summer Show.

The display includes the work of 23 art students and 18 photography students, with the youngsters working in a huge variety of medial over the past year.

The works have been wowing members of the public and children from other local schools who have visited the exhibition so far.

Head of Art at the school Amanda Davies said: “Molly Snell’s ‘dropped’ clay heads have caused quite a stir with visitors to the show and have been a popular piece with visiting first school Damers.

“James Cartwright has on display his wooden carved owl, which is beautiful, and large pen drawings of plant forms and bird life. “James and the Year 13 students have worked closely with Damers First School during the first year of their A-levels, painting a large learning wall which can be viewed from Damers Road. “James continued to work with Damers First School and single-handedly completed a large Jurassic Coast mural as part of his Year 13 coursework.”

She added that students from both the Art and Photography courses at the school had been highly successful, with her and Head of Photography Mark Megilley.

He was pleased to see two students selected for the Royal Academy A-level Summer Exhibition after being chosen from over 1,300 entries from a wide range of schools from across the country.
