THERE are plenty of things to see and do in Dorset this weekend.

Veterans will march through Dorchester today to mark Armed Forces Day and there will be music and entertainment in the Borough Gardens throughout the afternoon.

The parade sets off from North Square at 1.25pm and heads down South Street. A civic service will be held in the Borough Gardens at 1.50pm followed by a concert at the venue from 2.30pm-4.30pm featuring the Dorchester Big Band and Wessex Military Band.

The Chickerell Steam and Vintage Show gets off to a roaring start today at Moor Farm, Knights in the Bottom.

As well as classic and vintage vehicle displays, the show will include majorettes, trade stands, fast food stalls, children’s fun fair rides, and a beer tent.

There will also be performances from the Portsmouth Wild West and a live graffiti art demonstration.

The show will also feature a selection of live music.

The event continues tomorrow.

More live music can be enjoyed today at the Chesil Rocks mini music festival at Higher Farmhouse, Langton Herring.

The event, supporting Samaritans of Dorset, is hosted by the Warren family.

It is understood some tickets remain for this year's event, available from the gate on a first come first served basis. The gate opens at 11.30am.

Meanwhile, there’s plenty of family fun at the Dorset Fire Fayre today from 10am-4pm at Dorchester fire station.

Other events today include the Big Mix Festival at Lyme Regis and the Bridport Charter Fair.

Meanwhile on Sunday the Town Green Companion Dog Show is at The Marsh in Weymouth from 9am-4pm and over at the Nothe there’s the annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Free fun and entertainment can be enjoyed from 1.30pm-4pm.
