BAFTA-award winning actress Olivia Colman is in Weymouth this evening to film scenes for Broadchurch 2.

As reported in the Echo, residents have been told to expect hold-ups along the Esplanade as filming takes place.

Eye witnesses have said Olivia is currently in the Lazy Lizard as the cameras roll.

A council spokesman told the Echo the idea would be car parking spaces near Alexandra Gardens would be set up to look like a taxi rank.

But producers of the critically-acclaimed show are remaining tight-lipped about the plot for the second series.

Filming returned to West Bay earlier this week, with traders saying they were pleased with the tourism boost it had given the area.

The Dorset Echo has also played a part in the production, donating thousands of papers for filming purposes.

The filming at the Lazy Lizard drew a crowd of onlookers, eager to catch a glimpse of the star.

Holidaymakers Rob and Maureen Lucas were walking along the seafront when they saw the commotion.

Mr Lucas said the couple were big fans of the first series.

He added: "The first series was brilliant.

"It's the uncertainty of not knowing who did it.

"It really hooked us both.

"We saw Pauline Quirke in West Bay and now we are seeing the filming, which we didn't expect at all.

"We were just walking along and saw the cameras so stopped to have a look.

"One of the reasons we enjoyed the first series was because we saw the area and now we are seeing filming for the second series with Olivia Colman; it's brilliant."
