DORSET needs you to be a flood warden.

Dorset County Council and the Environment Agency say they need to recruit more flood wardens or flood teams to help more communities protect themselves from the risks of flooding.

A spokesman for Dorset County Council said: “Many areas already have flood wardens who work with parish or town councils.

“Depending on the size of the community they work either independently or as part of a team checking drainage channels, supporting people affected and identifying actions to reduce the risk and impact of flooding.”

He added: “Flood wardens need to be good communicators, have an interest in their local area and be contactable during the day.

“Training will be given on all areas of the work and there is an annual seminar, to share experiences and to learn more about flooding.”
