DORSET residents who have received care for a skin condition are being asked by the NHS to help shape the future of dermatology services.

NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, which plans, buys and monitors NHS services across the county, is holding three dermatology focus groups during August 2014. These groups will be informal and relaxed and anyone affected by a skin condition is invited to come along and give their views.

Skin conditions affect one third of the population at any one time.

Dr Chris McCall, chairman of the general medical and surgical clinical commissioning programme with NHS Dorset CCG, said: “Skin problems account for 24 per cent of all consultations with a GP. We need to ensure that the service in Dorset is comprehensive, responsive and appropriate to the needs of local people.”

The focus groups will take place at Frederick Treves House, Poundbury on August 11 between 2pm and 6pm, at Kinson Community Centre, Poole on August 12 between 5.30pm and 7.30pm and at The Exchange in Sturminster Newton on August 14 between 2pm and 4pm.

Anyone wishing to attend should call 01305 368029 or email service.improvement@dorsetccg.nhs.uk by Wednesday August 6.
