WOODROFFE School in Lyme Regis has been selected to lead a national Maths Hub working with a network of schools across the South West.

Staff and governors at the school say they are delighted to have been selected as one out of 32 schools nationally that will lead the hub, which aims to match the standards achieved in top-performing east Asian countries – including Japan, Singapore and China – and was launched by Education Minister Elizabeth Truss.

On July 2, Woodroffe headteacher Dr Richard Steward attended the national launch of the programme at an event at Downing Street.

He said: “A total of 270 applied to become Maths Hubs, but only 32 were selected. This is an indication of both the quality of the work done in Maths at Woodroffe but also recognition of the strengths of the alliance of schools who are part of the Hub.

“Woodroffe is an Ofsted outstanding school, a very successful teaching school and now, a Maths Hub – making Woodroffe one of the most influential and successful schools in the country.”
