TWO high flying Dorchester pupils have been celebrating their success at Cambridge University Kirsten Mary Smith, 16, and Imogen McConnell, 17, from The Thomas Hardye School were among 100 young women invited from schools across the UK to attend a special conference “Pathways to Success 2014.”
The conference is organised and hosted by Murray Edwards College, one of the 29 undergraduate colleges of the University of Cambridge.
It aims to help the girls to focus on the opportunities and choices ahead of them in a supportive atmosphere.
Kirsten said: “I’m considering Cambridge, but I’ve been getting different views and being told I might not fit in.
“I wanted to come and see what it’s actually like, not rely on hearsay. These two days have made my mind up towards Cambridge.
“The students are so friendly and interesting. They tell you what it’s really like.”
The pupils heard about life after graduation from the Murray Edwards alumnae.
