IT’S nearly time for this year’s Weymouth Lifeboat Week.

The annual showcase, which runs from July 27 to August 2, is made up of a series of events and activities to raise awareness and funds.

It begins on Sunday, July 27 with a lifeboat service at the ferry steps by Weymouth Pavilion at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the grand raffle, which involves 40 prizes, will soon go on sale throughout the town.

The following six days will be packed with fun for all the family and demonstrations.

On Monday, July 28, there will be a demonstration by the lifeboats, coastguards and Portland Coastguard rescue helicopter at The Nothe from 6.15pm.

There will also be many family attractions on offer including a tug-o-war competition, live music, gig racing, the balloon man, a hog roast, and a bar.

On Wednesday, July 30 there will be an exciting display in Bowleaze Cove by the lifeboats, coastguards and rescue helicopter starting at 6.30pm.

The following day, Weymouth Sailing Club is set to open its doors for a bar and barbecue with live music from Finn.

On Saturday, August 2, the Weymouth all weather and inshore lifeboats will open to the public at the lifeboat station from 10.30am.

There will also be a sea safety display and the grand raffle draw at 4pm with more than 30 prizes donated by local businesses.
