GLASSES are being raised at a charity-supporting beer festival in Weymouth over the weekend.

The Wyke Smugglers has resurrected Wykefest which used to be held in the fields near Value House at Wyke Regis.

The indoor event, supporting Julia’s House children’s hospice, started yesterday and continues today and tomorrow.

There will be more than 19 real ales, all from Dorset, and ciders, plus food, live music, a barbecue, raffle and stalls. Admission is free.

Landlord Rhos Thompson said the event is a lot smaller than the original Wykefest and held indoors but hopes it will carry on the tradition of giving people a good time and raising money for a very worthy cause.

He wants to develop it in future and move to an outdoor space.

It has the support of the West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and has sponsorship from the popyular Dorset Brewing Company.

It will run from noon to midnight each day.
