A DIVER was airlifted to Poole after showing signs of decompression sickness.

Portland Coastguard was alerted to the incident by the dive boat ‘Viper’ at around 10am on Wednesday.

Coastguard Helicopter 106 from Portland took the casualty to the Poole landing site and was met by Poole Coastguards and the dive doctor.

The diver was then transferred by ambulance to the recompression chamber at Poole.

Elsewhere, an elderly gentleman was thought to have suffered from cardiac arrest at Lyme Regis.

West Dorset RNLI Lifeguards were alerted to the scene at around 3.45pm.

South Western Ambulance air ambulance and land ambulance attended. Lyme Regis Coastguards assisted with the landing site and crowd control.

Meanwhile, a woman was lost for words after suffering a vocal chord dysfunction on the beach.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm at Durdle Door.

Lulworth Coastguards assisted South Western Ambulance by carrying her to an ambulance waiting at a nearby car park.

Elsewhere, a man suffered ingestion of seawater after falling into Weymouth Harbour.

Wyke Coastguard Rescue Officers attended the scene at around 8.33pm to help him get out.

The man managed to scramble out of the water unaided.

An ambulance took the man to hospital to be observed.

Concern was raised for a 25ft yacht after it failed to reach its destination.

The yacht named Hatty was on a passage from Lymington to Portland Harbour with one person on board.

The incident was reported at around 11.51pm.

The yacht was eventually sighted safely at anchor in Lulworth Cove.

It is believed due to the lack of VHF or mobile phone reception, the skipper would have been unable to notify others of his arrival.

An elderly couple required assistance in the Studland area on Wednesday evening.

Portland Coastguard were alerted by Dorset Police at around 6pm.

Officers from Swanage Coastguard Rescue Team attended along with staff from the National Trust.

Coastguards responded to a series of engine failures throughout the day.

A 28ft motor cruiser named Roatan encountered difficulties in Poole Harbour at around 12.48pm.

The boat had two people on board at the time.

Portland Coastguard broadcast requests for assistance but no vessels were available. Poole RNLI Inshore Lifeboat towed the casualty back to its mooring.

Further along the coast, a 20ft speedboat suffered engine failure approximately one nautical mile east of Lyme Regis.

The speedboat named New Dawn had four people on board at the time.

Lyme Regis Inshore Lifeboat was launched at around 8pm to assist. Once on the scene, the Lifeboat towed New Dawn to Lyme Regis Harbour to be met by Lyme Regis Coastguards.
