CLOTHES, handbags and jewellery were swiped in a burglary in West Dorset.

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses after the break in at ‘Frills’ clothes and fashion shop on Marine Parade, Lyme Regis.

The burglary happened sometime between 4.30pm on Friday 18 and 7am on Saturday July 19.

Officers said the offenders smashed a window and removed a window frame to gain entry to the premises. They stole the CCTV recording equipment as well as branded ladies’ and men’s clothes from hangers in the shop and from boxes in the store room.

Leather handbags and jewellery were also stolen.

Police Constable Sue Pugh, of Lyme Regis police, said: “This is an extremely distressing crime for the victim and has caused a considerable amount of inconvenience and expense.

“Some of the clothing items are of the distinctive brand ‘Weird Fish’. Anyone who has been offered for sale clothes, handbags or jewellery in strange circumstances or for unusually low prices is asked to contact the police.”

She added: “The offenders are being careful to avoid capture by removing the CCTV equipment – I urge anyone with information that helps identify them to come forward.

“All calls are treated with the strictest confidence.”
