A FORMER Weymouth Grammar School pupil has raised over £1,200 for charity by hosting a reunion marking 25 years since she and her classmates graduated from what is now Budmouth College.
Mum Leanne Brodie, 41, held a reunion on July 12 and over 70 pupils and teachers enjoyed fish and chips at Moby Dick’s on Weymouth Esplanade. Ice creams were provided by Weymouth company Rossi’s and local band Shooter also played live.
Old classmates from across the world sent in requests for 80s tunes and over 400 pictures were collected and projected. There was also a last minute raffle with several businesses donating prizes including a hamper from Weymouth Sainsbury’s, free Cineworld tickets and Champagne from Weymouth’s Dream Cottages.
Mrs Brodie presented cheques to Weldmar Hospice and CLIC Sargent and she explained the idea behind raising the money: “We raised money in memory of one of our former classmates Helen Rogers, who passed away in her 30s. We will also donate half to CLIC Sargent in memory of the late nine-year-old daughter of a former classmate.”
