THE SUN is shining and the festival fun is underway at the Came Estate near Dorchester.

The Forever Sun Festival got underway last night and a host of big name acts are performing throughout the weekend.

The Buzzcocks will be topping the bill tonight and the likes of the Happy Mondays and Toploader will be on stage tomorrow.

In just its second year, the festival has attracted an avid following and visitors to the event will be able to enjoy a wide range of acts as well as comedy, stalls and much more. With weather to fit the ‘Forever Sun’ name forecast, organiser David Williams is hoping for bumper crowds.

He says people attending the event will be able to enjoy the special ‘Forever Sun vibe’ that helps it stand out from other crowds.

David said: “It’s blending old school with emerging talents, and bringing that all together, with some cool people who want festivals to get back to the music and leave the funfair behind.”

This year, with a combination of fine weather and top class acts, it is expected to be a hit with 3,000 people expected over the weekend.

David said the aim of the event was to give people a traditional festival experience as an alternative to some of the more family orientated events, with no under 14s admitted at Forever Sun.

There will be a bus from the Fairfield car park in Dorchester to the festival. The event is also affiliated to charities the Steve Charles Help a Friend Fund and the Big Issue Foundation.

Other acts performing include Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, Moulettes and John Otway.
