IF you’re looking for somewhere to take your little monkeys this summer, look no further than Monkey World.

The ape sanctuary, which is based near Wareham, spans 65 acres and is home to more than 250 rescued primates.

Monkey World rescues and rehabilitates apes from all over the globe, many of which have been neglected, kept in unnatural conditions or have been treated cruelly.

Guests will be welcomed by 20 different species of monkey, including chimpanzees, orangutans, gibbons and ring tailed lemurs. Talks take place daily from noon to 3pm to teach guests all about the different primates that live at Monkey World.

After watching all the apes monkey around, kids can swing over to the Great Ape play area, the largest adventure play area in the South.

Visitors can then take a stroll through the Woodland Walk and enjoy something to eat at the tree top cafe.

The Summer Holiday’s Activity Centre is open until September 7, where children can create monkey pictures using coloured sand, make feeding toys for the chimps which they can then watch the keepers throw in for them and Story Time takes place every day at 2pm. The Big Banana Bonanza is taking place over the August bank holiday weekend and any child that enters the park with a banana for the monkeys will receive a free Monkey World badge.

Monkey World is open daily from 10am to 6pm throughout July and August. Tickets cost £11.25 for adults and £8 for children. Family tickets are also available for £35.
