FIREFIGHTERS were called to another field fire in the county today – the third one in two days.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service was called to a field fire in Tolpuddle earlier today, with two crews from Bere Regis and Poole Firefighters rushing to the scene at 2.20pm, as the fire burnt an estimated one acre of land on a field in the village.

Firefighters had the blaze under control by 3pm, with it extinguished shortly after.

This latest incident follows the fire brigade dealing with two field fires yesterday - one in Littlemoor in Weymouth and one in between Winfrith and Lulworth - and another fire in shrubbery near Lodmoor Nature Reserve.

The cause of the fire is yet to be identified, but a spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service has reminded motorists not to discard lit cigarettes out of windows as they are driving.
