THE section of road where two Weymouth residents were killed in a fatal road crash on Saturday evening will be closed tonight for friends and family of Max Fryman to visit the site.

Dorset Police have said the A354 Weymouth Way between Chafey's Roundabout and Swannery Bridge will be closed between 6.45pm and 7pm.

Dorset Police have asked motorists to find an alternative route at this time.

The family of Max Fryman have asked us to point out that the event is for his family and friends only which had not been clarified by police.

Janice Short, 63, was walking her dog Toby across the road when they were in a collision with 23-year-old motorcyclist Max Fryman, from Weymouth, shortly after 5pm on Saturday evening at the crossing point that links the pathway to Goldcroft Avenue and Radipole Lake.

Both Mrs Short and Mr Fryman were killed in the collision, as was Mrs Short's dog.

Heartfelt tributes to both victims were paid by friends and family following the tragedy.

Mrs Short's husband Andrew said: “Jan was the centre of our world and in a split second, tragically taken from us all.

“The love that her young grandchildren will now miss out on is a void we can only hope to fill by finding the strength to pull together as a family.

“Her wonderful spirit, love and enthusiasm will be missed every day by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.”

Hundreds of Mr Fryman's friends took to social media to pay their own tribute their “one of a kind” friend, and Mr Fryman's father Bill said: “I and the whole family are genuinely touched and happy about the comments that have been left about Max.

“It makes us happy that he made a lot of other people happy and that he meant a lot to people.

“He was truly a smashing lad and we will all miss him.”

The crash was at the same location that five-year-old Lily-Mae Jeffries was killed at two years ago and following the incident on Saturday, calls have been made by local residents and councillors for the section of road to be made safer, with suggestions that an underpass or overpass should be built, or the speed limit of the road should be reduced.
