COASTGUARDS help two boats with engine failure to shore and investigate reports of a boat in trouble in West Bay.

Just before 1pm on Saturday Portland coastguards received a call from the boat Jinx 2, she was stood by a 20ft speedboat with four persons onboard. It had suffered engine failure a quarter of a mile off Mudeford.

Portland coastguards called Christchurch Harbour Boat, who took the casualty under tow back to its moorings in Christchurch Harbour.

Just a few minutes’ later Poole coastguards were sent by Portland coastguards to help a broken down jetski to shore near Bournemouth Pier.

They were met by a friend of the jetski owner who had a vehicle and trailer.

At 3.27pm a 999 call was received from a member of the public who was concerned for the safety of a vessel that they were observing from the top of East Cliff at West Bay.

An investigation found that the vessel was in no danger and it was seen to be returning to West Bay.
