POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a fishing boat in Weymouth suffered criminal damage.
The incident happened between 8.30pm on Sunday, August 3 and 7.50am Monday, August 4, on the boat which was moored up in the harbour opposite the multi-storey car park on Commercial Road.
The boat was found to have two holes drilled under the engine, one on the stern and interference with the fuel cap.
Police Constable Stan Knight, of Weymouth Police, said: “This is an unusual crime and the damage made to the boat was very dangerous and could have caused serious injury to anyone who sailed in her.
“I am interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity around Commercial Road harbour side between 8.30pm on Sunday, August 3 and 7.50am on Monday, August 4.
“All calls will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
Witnesses and anyone with information are urged to call Dorset Police on 101 quoting the crime number 4:69, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
