A MAN’S skull was fractured in an alleged assault in Weymouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident in the early hours of Sunday, August 3.

It is alleged a 52-year-old man was pushed through the doorway of Actor’s Bar and fell to the ground, sustaining the fracture and bleeding to the brain.

He was initially taken to Dorchester County Hospital and later Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Detective Constable Siobhan Lovering, of Weymouth CID, said: “This incident caused a very serious injury.

“As it occurred in a busy area of town a number of people may have witnessed what happened.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or has any information about the events leading up to it, to contact Dorset Police.”

The victim is described as a white man, of slim build and was wearing jeans, a hooded top and a baseball cap. A 26-year-old man from Portland has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
