A WEST Dorset-based construction company has scooped four national quality awards.

Independent developer C G Fry & Son, based in Litton Cheney, was awarded the awards for the company’s developments in Dorset, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Four site managers, Steve Walker, Aubrey Harris, David Pillinger and Adrian White, from four projects in the counties each won a National House Building Council, (NHBC) ‘Pride in the Job 2014’ quality award.

Philip Fry, Managing Director C G Fry & Son said: “Our mid to long-term business plan formulated ten years’ ago was to expand and develop into a regional developer whilst maintaining our on-going quality and attention to detail.

“Winning four individual awards across the region is a major achievement and is the result of the drive and passion of our valued site managers and their teams.

“It is always pleasing to be publicly recognised by a well-respected independent body such as the NHBC.

"This prestigious accolade endorses the company’s goals which has now come to fruition and is a reflection of all the hard work by the dedicated staff.”

The prestigious Poundbury development is a five-time NHBC award-winning site for C G Fry & Son, with site manager Steve Walker winning awards on four of these occasions.

Mr Walker started as the project manager at Poundbury working with The Duchy of Cornwall in October 1993 and was runner up in the national finals of last year’s ‘Pride in the Job’ for the South West Quadrant.

Mr Walker said: “I am delighted and honoured to again be recognised for a NHBC award for Poundbury which is as a result of a great team effort. Having set the bar over the last couple of years, the goal going forward is to continue to keep to this high standard of quality.

"The next challenge is to be geared up to complete more sections at Poundbury with an increased number of new sub-contractors whilst maintaining the excellent attention to detail for which C G Fry is well-known.”

The quality awards organised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) for the South West region is the highest industry accolade a site manager can receive.

Having run for 34 years, ‘Pride in the Job’ is the house-building industry's most prestigious awards programme and continues to recognise the UK's best site managers.
